The Chatter Creek mill is filling the lumber yard with a good supply of dimensioned lumber, all stacked with blocking, strapped and drying, waiting to be used. The earlier Vertebrae Lodge project was on such a tight schedule, lumber had almost no time to dry before being used. After the metal roof went on Vertebrae Lodge and things started to warm up, it rained inside the building. The lumber was that green.
This lumber will take months to dry, but even a short time spent "curing" before being used will help a little to reduce the moisture content in the finished building.
In the winter, the hillside in the background has sufficient snow to entirely cover the short trees and it provides a wonderful run to end a great day of powder skiing. Right to the lodge door!
